We have two types of hosting.

Shared hosting is a hostel our website gets stored on a shared server with other websites.

Dedicated hosting: here, we rent out an independent apartment with a dedicated server with fewer websites.

Both Bluehost and Wix, in their initial plans, host the sites in shared hosting. Shared hosting can create many problems like security, traffic, loss of data, etcetera, which will affect our site’s performance. The good part here is that when choosing Bluehost, you can upgrade to dedicated hosting where the servers are always online, and we can access it anytime, anywhere. Since Wix offers only shared hosting, we do not recommend Wix for hosting unless it is a minimal site with small usage and fewer users.

Storage Space

Every digital data requires digital storage space like images and videos need storage space in our phones. Our website also requires storage space to store the contents, designs, data, and other details. When our website has hundreds of pages, it will need ample storage space.

Wix provides only 3GB of shallow storage space. As the number of users increases, the storage space runs out quickly. Storage space will be expensive for higher plans in Wix.

Bluehost provides us with 50 GB of data with their basic plan. That will be more than enough for our website to run for years.

Domain Name

What is a Domain name? It is the identification of any website; your user can find your website quickly and conveniently for us to create an identity.

Wix offers us a personal website address or domain name. We have to upgrade to a higher plan; with this plan, we also get an option to create one more domain name for free.

Bluehost offers us a free domain name even in its basic plan. Bluehost also allows us to use domain names we already purchased elsewhere. They don’t charge us for this.

Web Hosting Control Panel

Control panels are an online interface provided by the host service to change our server settings according to our requirements. The Control panel allows us to manage the server and the hosted services.

Cpanel is the popular control panel used by most users. They provide a graphical interface and automated tools for easy designing and hosting of your website. Cpanel is easy to use and study; you get many free tutorials to use Cpanel, making it popular among the control panels.

Bluehost uses Cpanel, making it easier to use and convenient for the users while using Bluehost.

Wix doesn’t provide a full option control panel, and the control panel is customized by the provider, making it difficult for the users to use it.

Bandwidth

Bluehost provides us with unlimited bandwidth capacity for every user. They charge extra only if we have heavy traffic on our site and use a tremendous amount of data, particularly for your site.

Wix provides only 2GB of bandwidth in their basic plan, which is very low. When you have high traffic on your site, this 2GB bandwidth will finish very quickly, which will cause us trouble. The free plan of Wix only provides 500Mb of data bandwidth.

SSL Certificate

Security is the main feature any website must provide for its users. SSL certificate is vital for websites. SSL( Secure Sockets Layer) certificate offers an online security protocol for creating an encrypted link between the web browser and web server.

For security reasons, most users prefer to use the website with the HTTPS protocol rather than the HTTP protocol. SSLS certificate help to host the website with HTTPS protocol.

Both Bluehost and Wix provide the users with SSL certificates from their basic plan. Anybody using any of the two providers gets the SSL certificate.

Wix is one of the host providers that give us a monthly paying option. Their basic plan is around 14$ per month. They have a free plan too, but very few options that won’t help us with good website development. This is a continuous pal that doesn’t have any change. This price might not work for us when we have a meager budget to work with.

Bluehost is the one you can choose for working cheap because they only charge 2.95$/ month if we opt for a 3-year term subscription. The money-back policy of Bluehost is extended to 30 days which is better than the 14 days provided by Wix.

Which would I prefer for you to start your website career, Bluehost or Wix?
